The Story

A love story that became a venue.
Hi, I’m Danica Tucker — the owner and operator of The Meadows at Sunbury Oromocto Park. The vision for The Meadows began in 2023, long before I officially returned home. While working in luxury tourism in the Caribbean, my heart was already here, drawn back to the quiet lake, open meadows, and natural beauty of this land. I knew it held the potential to become something truly special.

From that moment on, I poured myself into the dream — planning, renovating, designing, and building The Meadows with intention and care. Today, it’s New Brunswick’s only fully customizable, one-stop outdoor wedding venue, thoughtfully created to blend romance, nature, and effortless celebration. From the lake and forest to the open fields and English-style marquee tent, every space is designed to feel meaningful and memorable.

I’m a hands-on host, planner, and your support system from day one. With a background in event planning and elevated hospitality, I bring organization, creativity, and genuine care into every wedding. Through trusted partnerships with incredible local vendors, couples can personalize their day with exclusive options while enjoying a seamless planning experience.

The Meadows was built with love and the belief that life’s biggest moments deserve to feel magical. I even got married here myself — something you may notice in a few of our photos — as a way to truly bring the vision to life and experience it firsthand. That joy, calm, and sense of magic is exactly what I hope to create for every couple. The Meadows is more than a venue; it’s a place where meaningful stories begin, and I’m honoured to help you start yours here.

Land Acknowledgment

We Acknowledge

The Meadows respectfully acknowledges that our park is situated on the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Wolastoqey peoples. We seek to repair and rebuild meaningful relationships with Indigenous peoples and honour these lands which hold the hopes of future generations.
Before the 1960s

The History

The land along the shores of French Lake was part of the original Smith family farms, rooted in local history and community.
The 1960's

A Provincial Park

The government transformed the property into a provincial park, but the project was later abandoned, leaving the land unused.
After Provincial Closure (Pre-2010)

Reclaiming The Land

Smith family descendants reclaimed the land and established it as a privately owned campground, beginning a new chapter of stewardship.
2010

Blaine and Laura

Ownership passed through the Smith family until it reached Blaine and Laura Smith, who successfully operated the campground for 15 years.
Present day

A New Beginning

In 2025, Blaine and Laura's granddaughter Danica has taken over and revitalized the park, bringing new energy, expanding offerings, and in the fall of 2025 launched its next evolution as an exclusive, customizable wedding venue.
